During this Aegean Small Ship Cruise of Classical Greece you will visit some of the world-famous islands of the Cyclades, known for their unique beauty. From the cosmopolitan island of Mykonos and  Santorini’s volcano, to  the richly historical island of Delos and the whitewashed Kea. You will then sail to the island of Crete, birthplace of the Minoan Civilization, before continuing to the idyllic Kythira and the castle city of Monemvassia. Continue your journey sailing to the port of Nafplio, where from you can visit the Homeric Acropolis of Mycenae, before you set sail to the island of Hydra in the Saronic Gulf.

DAY 1: Athens – Kea

Embarkation at Marina Zea in Athens, between 2-3 p.m. Enjoy a welcome drink and meet your crew and fellow passengers. Depart via Cape Sounion for Kea. Time at leisure to explore Kea’s tiny port, Korissia, after dinner. Departure in the early hours for Delos.

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer

On arrival at Athens Airport you will be greeted by our airport representative who will assist you with the transfer to your hotel. Your Tour Director will welcome you at the hotel and provide all useful information and travel tips for your stay. Dinner tonight is on your own.

Day 2: Athens and Transfer to Port

A fresh morning start accompanied by your Tour Director for a walking tour of Athens Historical Center. Visit the Acropolis and its great monuments, including the Parthenon, the Propylea and the Erecthion (Maidens Temple). Continue your day’s experience with an enriching visit to the new Acropolis Museum, where you will marvel at the masterpieces of art from the Acropolis. Time for a stroll along the narrow streets of the Plaka district and a light lunch before you drive to Zea to board your small ship and begin your voyage of discovery.   At the end of the cruise, your transfer to the airport is also included.

Day 3: Meteora Monasteries

After a delicious breakfast buffet with Acropolis view, you’ll drive south to the Peloponnese, stopping at the Corinth Canal to view a modern Greek construction feat. The canal, which cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth, separates the mainland from the Peloponnese and connects the Aegean with the Ionian Sea. Continue with a panoramic drive overlooking the Saronic Gulf to ancient Epidaurus, home of Aesculapius, the ancient god of medicine. Epidaurus is also known for its theater; the best preserved ancient Greek theater. Experience the theater’s unique acoustics and learn about healing practices in antiquity. After lunch in the area, drive to Olympia. Arrive in late afternoon and check in to the hotel. Dinner tonight at the hotel is included.

Day 4: Olympia    

This morning, you should wear athletic shoes for a visit to the site of ancient Olympia, once upon a time a great sanctuary dedicated to Olympian Zeus. Warm up with a walk through the extended area of the site, consisting of shrines and temples, before enjoying your own footrace in the original Olympic Stadium. Feel the pulse and energy of the ancient athletes who competed on this ground. Continue your inspiring experience with a visit to the Olympia Archaeological Museum, which houses the masterpieces recovered from the ancient site of Olympia, including the marble pediments of the temple of Zeus and the famous statue of Hermes by Praxiteles.
